SPOKANE — Spokane police are warning citizens to watch out for impostors after a fake cop pulled over a woman near Gonzaga University.
KXLY-TV reported the Gonzaga student said the car had red and blue flashing lights and the man was wearing a dark blue uniform. He said she had failed to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. He checked her license and searched her car, then left her unharmed.
The woman thought the encounter was suspicious and called police who said it was a man posing as an officer.
Police said if you are suspicious of a stop, pull over in a lit area, ask the officer for identification or call 911 and ask.
