STANWOOD — Hundreds of residents of Kayak Estates near Stanwood were advised Saturday to boil their water after their water system was exposed to contaminants, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
The boil-water advisory was issued after the water system that serves 361 households lost pressure. Workers with Snohomish Public Utility District went door-to-door in the area bordered by 172nd Street NW, 66th Avenue NW, 140th Street NW and Puget Sound.
A pressure loss can allow contaminants to enter a water system, according to the state health department.
Water pressure was restored Saturday, but the boil-water advisory is expected to stay in place until the system’s water quality can be tested.
