STARTUP — Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday were investigating the possible attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl.
The girl reportedly told her father that a man ran toward her while she was waiting that morning for a school bus near the 14200 block of 367th Avenue SE, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The girl said she ran to a neighbor’s house.
The man reportedly followed the girl at least part of the way down the driveway before he ran off, Hover said.
The girl went home and told her father what happened. The father went outside looking for the suspect, Hover said. The father reported seeing a man he didn’t recognize get into a faded green truck, possibly a 1970s- or 1980s-model Datsun, and drive off. The father later called 911.
Deputies searched the area but didn’t spot the suspect vehicle, Hover said.
“It is not known if the man in the truck is the same person the girl said chased her,” Hover said.
The girl described the man who ran toward her as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, possibly in his mid-20s, and with a medium build. He was described as bald or balding. He was wearing ripped blue jeans and a dark blue T-shirt.
