EVERETT — Snohomish County is getting kudos from state auditors for its nearly yearlong efforts to improve customer service, employee morale and efficiency.
The county and the State Auditor’s Office released a 4 minute, 25 second video Tuesday that highlights the attempt to encourage continuous reforms across all county departments. The effort, which County Executive Dave Somers initiated in January shortly after taking office, is known by the acronym STEP — short for the Service, Technology, Excellence Program.
It’s headed up by Tom Rowe, a former planning department manager, who in the initial phases of STEP looked at speeding up permit-processing times.
The State Auditor’s Office Local Government Performance Center has been working with county officials on the improvements.
