SULTAN – Police arrested a man who allegedly beat, kidnapped and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend Tuesday.
“We think we prevented a homicide,” Sultan Police Chief Fred Walser said.
A friend of the woman called police about 9:23 a.m. after seeing the woman, 34, dragged from his house and forced into the truck of her former boyfriend, 35.
Witnesses told police the woman had been hit and kicked before she was forced into the truck. Sultan officers notified nearby police departments that the truck was headed toward Monroe.
A Monroe police sergeant spotted the truck and it was stopped without incident, Walser said.
The man was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of four felonies associated with the incident.
The woman was taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe, where she was treated for her injuries.
The woman had obtained a restraining order against the man, prohibiting him from contacting her, Walser said.
“He told her he was going to take her out to the woods and kill her,” Walser said. “We are fortunate things worked out the way they did.”
