No layoffs: Three city police officers received good news Monday – they won’t be laid off.
At the direction of Mayor C.H. Rowe, Sultan Police Chief Fred Walser handed out notices rescinding the layoffs the trio received last week.
“It looks like we’re going to keep most of our staff, though the school resource officer position is still going away,” Walser said.
That officer has lined up a job with another Snohomish County police agency, Walser said.
The city has been struggling to trim the budget, and the layoff notices resulted from those efforts.
The city council meets at 7 tonight at the council chambers.
