The Washington State Patrol keeps track of impaired-driving arrests throughout the year, but especially during holiday weekends.
Every year, Super Bowl Sunday is known as a time when people tend to drink and get behind the wheel, trooper Keith Leary said.
Emphasis patrols between 9 a.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday netted four impaired-driving arrests in Snohomish County, Leary said. The local WSP district, which also includes Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties, had seven.
In comparison, there were 14 such arrests in the district during the same time in 2011, 10 of which were in Snohomish County, he said.
“Every driver has the choice to make the right decision not to get behind the wheel, looks like people made some good decisions this weekend,” he said.
