SILVER LAKE — Police are investigating after explosives were found here on Saturday.
Two tennis balls were packed with explosive powder apparently taken from fireworks, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. A third, smaller explosive also was found.
All three items were inside a paper bag. A hobbyist geocacher spotted the bag about 12:45 p.m. at Green Lantern Park and called 911. Green Lantern Park is across the lake from the popular Thornton A. Sullivan Park.
A bomb squad responded and rendered the devices unusable, Snell said. As of Thursday, there was no information on who left the bag at the lake.
“We do not believe they were intentionally left to harm others,” he said.
