MUKILTEO – A three-car accident shut down Highway 525 for more than two hours Monday, police said.
The accident happened about 5:25 a.m. in the 7800 block of Highway 525, Mukilteo Officer S. Greenmun said.
A car headed south hit a car parked at the side of the road. The impact sent the empty parked car across the highway and into a car in the northbound lane, Greenmun said.
The driver in the first car was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center and was in stable condition. The other driver was not hurt, Greenmun said.
The crash shut down both lanes of the highway; drivers were detoured through Mukilteo.
Marysville: Train fire closes intersection
A small fire in a rear locomotive of a train closed the intersection of Grove and State streets for about an hour Monday, firefighters said. The fire was confined to the locomotive, Marysville Fire Department acting Capt. Jason Schoonover said. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes, he said. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. The fire was reported about 1 p.m. and briefly delayed traffic on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line, a spokesman for the railroad said.
