SULTAN – A freight train struck a Ford pickup truck here on Sunday, sending three people to hospitals, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The collision occurred about 11 a.m. in the 30300 block of U.S. 2. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was westbound. A family and two dogs were in the pickup.
A 35-year-old woman was ejected from the pickup and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Her condition wasn’t immediately available on Sunday.
The two other occupants of the pickup were transported to Valley General Hospital in Monroe with injures that were not considered life-threatening.
One of the dogs was killed in the crash.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
