EDMONDS — Two employees and one passenger on a ferry from Kingston to Edmonds became ill on a trip late Friday night, according to an Edmonds Fire Department statement.
All three patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after apparently being exposed to methane gas.
The odor of methane was reported at about the same time the three individuals got sick, according to the statement.
The victims were apparently near where the ship’s sanitary exhaust was being released into the ferry rather than the open air. The problem appeared to be tied to strong winds that forced the emissions into the ship’s ventilation system.
