EVERETT – An anonymous tip led police to a man suspected of robbing a pharmacy in south Everett in September, authorities announced today.
The robbery happened Sept. 15 at Walgreens in the 13100 block of Bothell-Everett Highway. The suspect jumped through the pick-up window and convinced the pharmacists he was armed with a gun, police said. The man demanded that a locked cabinet be opened and grabbed morphine and oxycondone, strong prescription painkillers, before jumping back over the counter and running off.
A $1,000 reward was donated by Purdue Pharma LLC, a drug company and sponsor of RxPatrol, a collaborative effort among drug companies, pharmacists and police to help stop pharmacy robberies.
A Lynnwood man, 23, was arrested Oct. 31 after an anonymous tipster called Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.
The man remains in the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree robbery. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
Snohomish County authorities have seen a spike in prescription drug abuse, along with an increase in pharmacy robberies and prescription forgeries
