LAKE STEVENS — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Stevens police issued a public warning Wednesday about a Level 3 sex offender who will live in the 3500 block of 113th Avenue NE beginning Jan. 31.
Jonathan J. Novy, 31, pleaded guilty in December 1998 to second-degree child molestation, third-degree child molestation and third-degree child rape involving three girls, ages 11 to 16. Novy owned and operated a Tae Kwon Do school in Arlington, and sexually assaulted three of his students, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
In prison, he participated in a sexual offender treatment program and numerous self-improvement programs.
A public meeting on the topic will take place from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Lake Stevens High School, 2908 113th Ave. NE.
Everett
Man sought: Police are seeking help identifying a man sought in a shooting at a south Everett parking lot.
The shooting occurred at 11 p.m. Friday in the 10000 block of Evergreen Way.
The victim, a 63-year-old Everett man, suffered multiple wounds, including knife and gunshot wounds. He was released Tuesday from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The victim had been living in his van, which was parked in a public parking area, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said. The victim told police that a man carrying a map approached him and asked for directions to the ferry. The victim offered to drive the man to the ferry, and complained that he had been attacked without provocation.
The victim described his assailant as white, in his early 50s, about 6 feet, 165 pounds, with an average build and black hair. He was driving a small gray sedan.
The investigation is continuing.
