OLYMPIA — Sen. Linda Evans Parlette says that her Lake Chelan cabin was among the dozens of buildings that have burned in massive wildfires in Washington state.
The Wenatchee Republican said Tuesday that she learned Saturday that the small cabin and an outbuilding on the south shore of the lake was gone. She said that the 400-square foot cabin, about an hour from her home in Wenatchee, was used as a weekend getaway for her and her husband. No one was at the cabin during the fire, she says. Parlette says that she and her husband bought the property in the 1990s, but have had the cabin for past few years.
Parlette says that while she’s sad to have lost the cabin, she is more concerned for families in the region who have lost their main homes.
