CLINTON — Officials have identified a 9-year-old Clinton girl killed in a car accident on Whidbey Island on Christmas Day.
Tobiah Z. Leonard died after high winds knocked a tree branch into her family’s car as they drove along Bailey Road, south of Clinton, according to a Washington State Patrol memo.
Several other family members were injured, but none of their injuries were expected to be life-threatening.
The girl’s mother is a member of the Jet City Rollergirls, and group leaders said they are working to get a donation account set up for the family.
The mother, Julie Janeshefskie, told the Herald’s news partner, KIRO 7 TV, that after the crash, she held her daughter until help arrived.
Tobiah was a happy fourth-grader who loved to sing, Janeshefskie said.
