MARYSVILLE — The recent stabbing of a 17-year-old in Marysville was captured on video, according to new court records.
A 13-year-old girl told detectives she witnessed the Nov. 13 assault and recorded the melee with her cellphone.
Police say the video shows the 17-year-old confront another boy, 15. He threw the younger boy to the ground and they fought for a short time, court papers said. Another boy, 14, jumped into the fray and punched the 17-year-old.
The 15-year-old backed away but then approached the older boy and stabbed him multiple times, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Jennifer DeJong wrote in court papers.
Other witnesses told police a woman who was with the 15-year-old initiated the confrontation. She reportedly began yelling and spitting at the 17-year-old.
He was taken to a local hospital. An update of his condition was not available.
Prosecutors have charged the 15-year-old with second-degree assault and first-degree robbery. The Daily Herald is not naming the boy because his case is being handled in juvenile court. The woman and the younger boy were arrested but have not been charged.
The defendant also is accused of robbing a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint about a hour before the stabbing. That incident happened about a block away, court papers said.
She told police that the boy held a knife to her and demanded her stuff. She turned over $40. Witnesses told police the boy later purchased THC oil, a potent extract of the marijuana plant, according to a police affidavit.
The 15-year-old allegedly admitted that he stabbed the other teen but claimed it was in self-defense, according to police. The boy told officers where he’d thrown the knife. It was collected and booked into evidence.
