A 29-year-old Bothell woman was seriously injured Monday night in an accident at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Roosevelt Road between Snohomish and Monroe.
The woman was riding on the back of a motorcycle driven westbound on U.S. 2 by a Monroe man, 31, when it collided with a pickup making a left turn from U.S. 2 to Roosevelt Road about 9:40 p.m., said State Patrol trooper Keith Leary. All lanes of the highway were blocked for at least half an hour.
The woman was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries to her head and one arm. The Monroe man was taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe where he was treated for minor injuries.
The man driving the pickup, a 47-year-old Snohomish man, was not injured.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, Leary said.
The man driving the motorcycle did not have the proper endorsement to operate a motorcycle, Leary said.
