GOLD BAR — A woman narrowly escaped her Gold Bar house after it caught fire Friday morning.
Firefighters drove out to the Green Water Meadows housing development at 8:18 a.m. Crews saw heavy, black smoke a quarter mile away and knew it was a large fire, said Chief Eric Andrews with Fire District 26.
The woman was asleep when the fire started, he said. She was not hurt.
The area where the housing development is located does not have a water system or fire hydrants.
“Water had to be trucked in, which is always a complicating factor,” Andrews said.
The house was severely damaged, and the woman won’t be able to move back in.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
