All lanes of Highway 204 between U.S. 2 and Lake Stevens are expected to reopen at 10 p.m. after crews finish work on a sinkhole that appeared on Friday.
The lanes were originally scheduled to open by 5 p.m. today but the asphalt is taking longer than expected to set, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Until 10 p.m. one lane is open in each direction. Drivers should expect delays on Highway 204 and 20th Street SE.
The sinkhole formed shortly after 11 a.m. Friday on
Highway 204 at 81st Avenue SE, a primary route into Lake Stevens.
Crews closed two lanes and filled the hole with concrete, then reopened the lanes at 6:50 p.m. They placed a steel plate on the roadway and returned today to make the final repairs.
Photos of the sinkhole are available on WSDOT’s Flickr account.
