YAKIMA — The internal investigation into an Aug. 3 police shooting in Yakima has left the department short.
A sergeant and three officers could be on administrative leave for months.
Police Chief Greg Copeland told KIMA he’s had to reassign the “Pro-Act” team to the patrol division to make up for the absence.
The Pro-Act unit focuses on stopping thefts and break-ins. With those officers filling-in with the patrol division, there could be an increase in car prowls and burglaries in Yakima.
