A cash-happy reunion

Boat Payment Due Dept. When geezer rockers feel the need for extra cash, they launch a reunion tour. And if they haven’t lapsed into county-fair-mainstage status (“Ladies and gentlemen, Grand Funk Railroad’s Mark Farner!”), they can make some serious, serious money — as The Police no doubt are as their tour hits Seattle (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/06/01/100ae_ae19police001.cfm).

But Sting and his aging mates — jeepers, guitarist Andy Summers is 64! — will be lucky to even come near the $437 million scored by the Rolling Stones on their record-setting tour in 2006. According to Billboard magazine, 2006’s No. 2 tour, at $195 million, was Madonna — and The Buzz isn’t even sure what it is Madonna does these days.

Friday is new-movie day, and we’re sorry to report that one of them, “Mr. Brooks,” stars Kevin Costner as a serial killer (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/06/01/100ae_ae6brooks001.cfm).

Costner as a baseball player? OK. Costner as a serial killer? Stop it! You’re killing me!

We’re even more sorry — deeply anguished, actually — to report that Demi Moore plays a police detective on Costner’s trail.

So skip “Brooks,” but do check out “Severance,” a mean little British horror movie that gets three stars from our critic Robert Horton (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/06/01/100ae_ae8severance001.cfm).
