I got one of those political email surveys, which was in reality just another pretext to solicit a contribution.
It asked, “Do you wish Hillary Clinton was president?”
I responded that I wished the sender were educated enough to know how to couch a question properly in the subjunctive.
After all, when the current president is only capable of an occasional polysyllabic word, e.g. “intelligent” (in reference to himself), it would be nice if the opposition were at least capable of better grammar.
