Demonizing oil isn’t the answer

The July Fourth editorial “(Our nation’s independence: It’s threatened from within”) suggests, correctly, that we are threatened from within. The conclusion is that this is due to our unwillingness to “compromise” politically.

Further, although admitting, “the ultimate effects of climate change aren’t completely clear,” can we please stop getting in the way of the Democrats’ Cap and Trade (CAT) scam? Seems we’ve heard that before, in the form of “I don’t know all the facts, but I know the white cop is wrong.”

Are we being threatened from within? You betcha we are! The threat comes from the progressive mantra of “oil is the enemy”! They say we must end the use of fossil fuels and build a clean energy economy, as if the two were mutually exclusive. America’s entrepreneurs, using free market principles, are fully capable of transitioning our economy to independence from foreign sources, provided our “leaders” get out of the way!

America has the oil and other energy reserves to supply her own energy needs for hundreds of years while transforming to the next generation of resources, if the politicians would allow it!

CCX, the Chicago Climate Exchange, exists and claims it will trade carbon credits at $10 trillion annually once legislation is passed. The total U.S. and EU economy is $15 trillion. If you had to add two-thirds to your annual budget next year without gaining anything of value, would you survive? Would the world economy? Coming soon from a thug near you!
