Well, they’re at it again! It seems somehow that earthquakes have assumed a higher priority since the new-new improved additions to the Snohomish County Courthouse complex’s unsafe architectural monstrosities were erected in the 1960s.
Let’s make the powers that be have an unbiased organization, such as the Army Corp of Engineers, do a proper assessment prior to the proposed leveling of one of the few remaining vestiges of interesting architecture remaining in the county.
The $27 million dollar proposed upgrade might be better spent on insuring that all our schools and hospitals are absolutely safe to guarantee they won’t collapse on future taxpayers.
The Old Clock in the Spanish Courthouse’s tower is a marvelous example of the E. Howard Clock Company’s superb craftsmanship, whose bell has signaled the heartbeat of Everett’s mill town industries for nearly a century.
