No “nic” at night school: Everett Community College is considering a campus-wide ban on smoking following a survey that found nearly 60 percent of faculty and students favored such a ban.
But some are opposed because a ban on smoking would leave only Hacky Sack and no mandatory pep rallies as the only differences between community college and high school.
Not the “Chicken Dance” again: A Tokyo couple were married Sunday by a 4-foot-tall robot with flashing eyes and a robotic female voice. I-Fairy was operated a few feet away by a man at a computer.
The ceremony went well, but guests were amused during the reception when I-Fairy’s human controller overdid it at the no-host bar and programmed the robot to make a pass at the karaoke machine.
Is that with cheese or without? Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl says he doesn’t expect a GOP filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan. But Kyl said Republicans want to know whether Kagan will be able to “lay her political beliefs aside” as a justice.
Frankly, a U.S. senator asking a judicial nominee if she can lay aside her political beliefs is like a fat man asking if a vegetarian can set aside a Wendy’s Triple Baconater.
