Know when to hold them, know when to fold them: A woman has successfully sued Harrah’s casino in Laughlin, Nev., for $775,000 after she tripped over a speed bump. The woman, a regular customer of the casino for 20 years, convinced the jury that the speed bump was too high.
She then lost the $775,000 when the casino offered her double or nothing on appeal.

How many zombie kills to the gallon? Hyundai recently displayed a specially outfitted Veloster Turbo at the Comic-Con in San Diego. With some consultation from the makers of the AMC zombie show “Walking Dead,” the Zombie Survival Machine was tricked out with armor plating, front-mounted chain saws and a rooftop turret gun.
Unimpressed, a living dead spokesperson for the National Horde of Shambling Brain-Eaters said, “You’re going to have to get out to fill the gas tank at some point.”

Laws of attraction: A 50-foot-wide electromagnet, strapped to a 16-axle flatbed truck, made the final leg of its 3,200-mile journey over land and water to the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill., outside of Chicago. The magnet will be used to study electronic particles.
The trip from New York, down the Atlantic Coast to the Gulf of Mexico and up the Mississippi River, was especially painstaking as movers had to stop every few miles to pry off ships and cars stuck to the magnet.
