There are times when I am startled, not believing what I have heard. Sunday was such a time.
Listening to the news on radio KPLU, I heard of a power outage and the area affected. They then directed those concerned to get further information by going to a Web site, which they provided. There they could learn of the area and time involved in the outage.
Now, most Web sites I know of are somehow entrenched in the bowels of a computer. I happen to have one and for it to work I must plug it into an electrical wall outlet from whence emits power to run same. No power. No computer. I figured that out without going to a Web site.
Now, can you imagine the hordes of people who are affected and so directed? I am confronted with the faces of those also struck dumb by realizing that this announcement went through several hands before reaching the person that aired it and no one was aware of the stupidity of it because their radio did not work either. No power. No computer. No radio. Most tots would affirm this. If it is plugged in and nothing works then we do indeed have a problem. Power outage.
I sure am glad I was not part of this, as I realize that the announcement came over the radio which is also plugged into the, well, you know. I would not have heard of this problem unless I were sitting in my car with the radio on. I would rather be inside even though we have no heat. No power. No computer. No radio.
Please check the logic of what you air.
