Election officials around the country have asked our Secretary of State, Kim Wyman, to help them provide a mail-in ballot option for their states during the pandemic. Using a mail in for voting can reduce the spread of the disease by eliminating crowded lines, long waits, and provides ball0t safety that does not use online internet connection. Instead it uses a closed system to record results and also provides a paper trail that can be a backup in close races.
Kim has used her experience to guide other states to implement this method. She has wisely avoided a political blowup with the administration by using a low-key strategy and focused her energy to bring other election officials up to speed. Her non-partisan actions should be a model for our country during this time of political division. I am proud of her accomplishments for our state and the entire country. She has run over 120 elections for the state of Washington. Her opponent does not have experience with election management. I will be voting for Kim this November and hope you will too.
