A local teachers union has endorsed Kevin Plemel for the Lake Stevens School Board District 4 seat.
Plemel, a Snohomish Health District manager, is challenging incumbent Janice Thompson, who is seeking a second term.
“(Plemel) seems like he really wants to be more open and collaborative with the association than our board has been in the past,” union President Jim Gow said. “Because he works for a government agency … he is able to understand the financial side of things really well also.”
The Lake Stevens Education Association includes about 420 teachers.
Errors found on election ballots
EVERETT Mail-in ballots for the Sultan and Darrington school districts and Snohomish County Fire District 23 contain one too many items for voters to consider, a county election official said Monday.
In each instance, the ballots list a race for which there is no candidate. Voters should ignore them, county Election Manager Carolyn Diepenbrock said.
The races that should not be voted on are District 1 in the Sultan School District, District 1 in the Darrington School District and Position 3 in Fire District 23.
The mistakes also will affect what voters see on touch screen voting machines in the Nov. 8 general election at the polls. Voters will be instructed to skip those specific races.
