I would appreciate the chance to say thank you to Snohomish County and the Everett community for including Brad and I in the relighting of the Eternal Flame on the Snohomish County campus (“Eternal flame for those who have served soon to be lit again,” The Herald, May 24).
Ever since its temporary removal, Mable Thomas, founder of the flame, asked us to watch over the flame, which we have taken seriously. Brad’s first love was the U.S. Marine Corps and his second love were veterans. We’ve been here through all moves, good and bad. So when we were called to asked to be part of the relighting I was so excited.
Not being involved in politics, when the five small military flags were raised I almost lost it. Brad and I worked hard to raise money.
I believe this new location is the best yet and thank Snohomish County and the Everett community for believing in us and allowing us to be a part of this. Brad and I will remember May 23, 2019, as a special memory forever.
