When dinosaurs ruled the world: Tribune Publishing Co., the company that owns the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, has changed its name to Tronc.

It’s perhaps fitting that a newspaper company should give itself a name that sounds like some creature that went extinct during the Paleogene period.

Investment-grade hair: A lock of the late David Bowie’s hair is expected to sell for $4,000 at auction this weekend.

After reading this, certain hair stylists in L.A. made a mental note to add the floor sweepings to their investment portfolios as soon as the next A-lister climbs out of their barber chair.

Batteries not included: For the seventh straight year, a supercomputer made in China topped a list of the world’s fastest computers — and, for the first time, uses only Chinese-designed processors.

The Chinese computer won the speed test only after its operators spent 45 frustrating minutes cutting away the stubborn blister wrap in which it was packaged.
