We voters will be offered the opportunity to repeal Washington state’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA) during this fall’s General Election. I am asking you to vote no on Initiative 2117! The initiative is the product of the financial backing of a millionaire who provided funding for this and a number of other programs targeted specifically to eliminate forms of government use of public funds which are purposed for the public good and our health and safety. OK in a democracy, but not OK in the real world in which we live and need to care for each other.
Take a look at the recent Herald report: Earthweek: Diary of a Changing World. I hope you can see what I’m seeing; and that is that our planet, as its own ecosystem, is showing the effects of climate change and global warming “as” its own ecosystem; wherein everything, everywhere, all at once is impacted by every other part of that system. If you look at the pieces you can’t see it — but consider that all (or most) of these climatic disasters are the effects of the same causal sources — climate change caused by global warming; and in our state the CCA is the most effective tool we have to fight for these changes caused primarily by global warming.
Vote no on I-2117; unless you want to pass on a dying planet to your children and grandchildren.
