Husky Stadium should be rocking today for the Dawgs’ game against Boise State.
The Huskies are 3-point underdogs against the Broncos, who, until last year, were best known for their home stadium’s weird blue “Smurf Turf.” That was before the smurftastic Fiesta Bowl made people take them seriously.
Flush with cash after last week’s perfect 2-0 start to the season, we’ll take the Dawgs to give the Broncos a good smurfing and send them back to Boise with their smurfs between their smurfs.
We’ll also take the Cougars, favored by 14, to win by more than that against San Diego State. The Aztecs’ official Web site prominently features the punter. That can’t be a good sign.
We’ll cap the weekend by taking the Seahawks to cover a 6-point spread against Tampa Bay, predicted by many to be the NFL’s worst team. If the Hawks can’t win by more than 6, they’re pretty much smurfed.
MTV has moved its Video Music Awards show to Vegas. Desperate to liven things up, MTV is bringing Britney Spears to Sin City and putting her in a room with free liquor and TV cameras. Law enforcement, wedding chapels and hairdressers are on emergency standby.
