Migration mishaps. Scientists say global warming is messing with bird’s instinctual migration. (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/05/14/100wir_a4birds001.cfm?refresh=yes) In some places, birds aren’t migrating at all, instead they just lazily hang around as winter arrives — like a 20-year-old guy refusing to leave his parents’ basement bedroom for a place of his own.
Now we realize this is a legitimate concern for bird species. But that doesn’t stop us from hoping that the starlings — you know, those birds that swarm around, make the trees shake and twitter, and poop all over cars — decide to stay somewhere else. Wherever they go, as long as they’re not here, is just fine.
“Trust us, we won’t drop you.” Do you really want to trust your co-workers to prevent bodily injury on some freaky rope course? Columnist Mike Benbow doesn’t think so. (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/05/14/100bus_benbow001.cfm?refresh=yes) He writes today about bizarre team-building ideas that companies have tried.
