Everett boys top Wesco 3A

OAK HARBOR — The Everett boys and Shorecrest girls track teams took first place at the Wesco 3A Championships Friday at Oak Harbor High School with 178 points and 173 points, respectively. The Glacier Peak girls team came in a close second, placing just 4.5 points behind Shorecrest with 168.5 points.

The Everett boys team was led by first-place finishes from Ty Sissell in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.18 seconds, Matt Gebert in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches and Issac Whaley in the shot put with a distance of 50 feet, 7 inches.

Lynnwood’s Nate Schmidt won both the 200 (22.29) and 400 (50.22) meter races.

The Shorecrest girls champions included Elisa Ahern in 100 hurdles (16.13), Emily Corona in the high jump (5-0) and long jump (16-1.25), Mickey Greenburg in the shot put (35-6), Onyie Chibuogwo in the discus (108-10) and Nicole Harris in the pole vault (9-0).

Amy-Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak placed first in 800 (2:11.07), 1,600 (5:03.35) and 3,200 (10:17.04).
