POST FALLS, Idaho – Portland Speedway Champion Mike Obrist captured the win during the opening night of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 weekend winning the INSSA Duel for the 200 Friday, Aug. 1 at Stateline Speedway.

Obrist grabbed lead from Corey Allard when a car spun causing leaders to slow to take the 100-lap victory in the event.

Cautions for minor spins and contact slowed the pace allowing Montana’s Bodie Morton and Shelby Thompson to challenge. Morton passed Thompson for second and challenged Obrist for the lead with five laps to go but could not make the pass to the outside as they caught lapped traffic.

Morton finished second followed by Thompson in third. Agni Howell, Kevin Richards, and Nevada’s Jim Wulfenstein rounded out the top six and receive a garunteed spot in Sunday’s 200 race.

Dave Garber set fast time and won the fast heat. Bodie Morton, Corey Allard, and Quint Whitman won dashes. Andy Brown and Dan Yonke won heats. Twenty seven cars qualified. Dylan Caldwell won the 15-lap b main.

Justin Robideuax won the 20-lap main event for the Early Stocks. Brycen Tarr took the Hobby Stock victory with JC Ward and Treven Tarr winning dashes.

The NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 weekend continues Saturday and Sunday with events on Sunday starting at 1p.m.

The NAPA AutoCare Duel for the 200 featuring the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series runs Saturday night at 6 p.m.
