SNOHOMISH — Thanks to a late 3-pointer, a couple free throws and a little bit of luck, the Snohomish boys basketball team was able to pull out a 53-50 Wesco 4A win over Kamiak Friday night.
The Panthers’ Gabe Reichenberger netted a 3-pointer to put Snohomish up by one, and Mitchell Stewart added a couple free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory. Meanwhile, on the other side of the floor, Kamiak was throwing up 3-point attempts, a couple of which came pretty close to tying the score.
“Yeah, we were very fortunate,” said Snohomish head coach Len Bone. “The last (attempt) rattled around and bounced out.”
Luke Hamlin once again led the Panthers with 20 points. Russell Crippen added 10 points and seven rebounds and Stewart also grabbed seven rebounds.
Snohomish (8-1 league, 12-2 overall) needed every point it could get against a Kamiak squad that’s starting to get some players back from injury. Nicholas Kussman had a team-high 17 points for the Knights (4-5, 8-7), including all three of Kamiak’s fourth-quarter field goals. Tyler Self was the only other Kamiak player in double figures with 10.
“They’ve been a little banged up,” Bone said. “They got all their guys back and healthy now.”
