Here are four postseason prep events to keep an eye on this week:
Girls soccer: 3A District 1 tournament semifinals at Edmonds Stadium—Shorecrest vs. Marysville Getchell, 5:30 p.m., Edmonds-Woodway vs. Marysville Pilchuck, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winners of these games clinch berths to the 3A state tournament. The Tomahawks and Chargers knocked off Snohomish and Stanwood, Wesco 3A’s top two teams during the regular season, in first-round games Saturday.
Girls soccer: 4A District 1 championship at Goddard Stadium: Lake Stevens vs. Jackson, 7:30 p.m. Thursday. This district tournament sure doesn’t waste much time getting to its title match. The Timberwolves (12-2-0) finished on top of the Wesco 4A standings, but the Vikings (11-2-1) were right behind, and they posted a 2-0 win over Jackson in the last week of the regular season.
Volleyball: 4A District 1 championship, at Marysville Pilchuck High School, 7 p.m. Thursday. The winner of this match clinches a spot to the 4A state tournament, while the loser has to work its way back through the consolation bracket. Lake Stevens (14-0 Wesco 4A) and Kamiak (12-2) will be favored to advance to this contest.
Cross country: State meets, at Sun Willows Golf Course, Pasco, 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Several runners from this area will be eyeing top finishes, including Lake Stevens’ Taylor Roe, Edmonds-Woodway’s Yukino Parle, Archbishop Murphy’s Josh Rauvola and King’s Naomi Smith.
