Prep wrestling: Marysville Premier

MARYSVILLE — Snohomish improved on last year’s fifth-place finish by capturing the overall title at the Marysville Premier wrestling tournament Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Ten Panther wrestlers placed in the top five and three won their respective weight classes. Greg Eagle dominated the 138-pound weight class, winning three of his four matches by way of pin. Eagle pinned Arlington’s Conner Gonzales in three minutes, 24 seconds in the final. Tristan Baus (195) and Mario Rojas (220) also took home first place for Snohomish, which earned 189.5 points, 10 ahead of second-place Moses Lake and 12.5 in front of Kentwood.

Stanwood finished fourth with 144 points, led by Zach Schut’s first-place performance at 160 pounds. Schut had a 10-3 decision over Glacier Peak’s Jake Elledge in the championship bout.

The fifth-place Grizzlies also had one champion, John Kim, who pinned the Spartans’ Jacob Scott in 3:30 at 126 pounds.

Drew Hatch (170) won the lone title for host and eighth-place Marysville Pilchuck. Hatch pinned Josh Boekelman of Kentwood in 1:54.
