Smollack carries Oak Harbor to win

MARYSVILLE — Mietra Smollack put Oak Harbor on her back Tuesday, scoring 19 of her 27 points in the first half and playing with tenacity on both sides of the floor to lead the Wildcats to a 51-41 victory over Marysville-Pilchuck in a loser-out 4A District 1 playoff game at the M-P gym.

“They had a lot of put-backs,” M-P coach Julie Martin said. “Smollack was everywhere.”

Smollack had 17 rebounds in the game, nine on the offensive end. Oak Harbor outrebounded M-P 41-24 in the game.

Oak Harbor plays Snohomish in a winner-to-state, loser-out third-place game at 8 p.m. Friday at M-P.
