Super Bowl gameday links

Greetings from MetLife Stadium, where the Seahawks and Broncos are 90 minutes away from the start of Super Bowl XLVIII. If the anticipation is killing you, here’s some reading to keep you busy between now and kickoff.

In today’s Herald, my column on what a Super Bowl would mean for a title-starved region. Aaron Swaney on a similar topic, but from the fan’s perspective.

David Krueger with the story on a local high school coach who won a Super Bowl with Denver.

A feature on Russell Wilson living his father’s dream.

And in case you missed it last night, Walter Jones was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The News Tribune looks at the battle between the league’s top offense and top defense.

TNT Columnist Dave Boling says the Seahawks will win, and Russell Wilson will be president someday.

Meanwhile Denver Post columnist Woody Paige tells you why Denver will win. Though some of his reasons seem a little off.

Doug Farrar of SI.com with a good look at Earl Thomas.

TheNation.com says if you’re not a Broncos fan, you should be rooting for Russell Wilson today.

NY Times with a Super Bowl preview.

ESPN.com with five keys to a Seahawks victory.

NFL.com with a little newsy stuff, saying the Seahawks plan to re-sign Michael Bennett this offseason, and that extending Earl Thomas would be the priority over Richard Sherman if they could get only one of those two done, though if you’ve been following this team, that is no surprise.

Finally, two vidoes worth watching. First, I never knew a Microsoft commercial could qualify as moving, but this one featuring Steve Gleason and his family is pretty amazing. Then if you want a laugh, a mocumentary on Seahawks CB Richard Sherman starring Frank Caliendo as several people. It’s funny stuff, and I usually don’t like Caliendo much, so it really must be good.
