Young Edmonds-Woodway swimmers finding success

The Edmonds-Woodway boys swimming and diving team is good now, and could be great in the future.

“They are right where I expected them to be,” Warriors coach Nolan Welfringer said. “We have a pretty young team, and some of them are still getting used to the high school swim culture. Next year is going to be a good one for this group, even if they don’t realize it yet. But this year can be good if we can make state in a couple of individual events and one or two relays, which I think we can do.”

Edmonds-Woodway’s best bets for state-meet qualification are Ethan Wang and Daniel Eno, both of whom swam at the 3A state meet last winter.

“Ethan is a universal swimmer, which is hard to find,” Welfringer said. “Ethan will definitely qualify in the breaststroke, and we’re not sure what his second event will be yet. Daniel will make it in the breaststroke, and he may have a shot in the 200-yard individual medley.”
