Volleyball rankings

There are a few notable changes (and at least one surprising omission) in this week’s Washington State Coaches Association volleyball rankings.

First, in Class 4A Edmonds-Woodway entered the rankings at No. 10. E-W, the Western Conference South Division champion, and two other Wesco teams — No. 6 Monroe and No. 7 Kamiak — are all in the top 10.

The 4A District 1 tournament begins Nov. 12, a week from today. The top three teams qualify for the 4A state championships in Kennewick. You can find the 4A district tourney bracket and other postseason volleyball info here.

Another noteworthy change in this week’s state rankings: North Sound Christian of Mountlake Terrace moved up one slot and is No. 1 in the 1B poll. North Sound is coached by Stacie Mahler.

And as for the surprising omission — surprising to me, anyway: Even after defeating top-ranked and previously unbeaten King’s (1A) last week, Archbishop Murphy is not among the 2A top 10.

Here are the complete rankings.
