A 20-year-old soldier from Lynnwood died Thursday of apparent natural causes at Fort Hood, Texas.
Army Spc. Joshua Aaron Martin was in the hospital when he died, an Army spokesman said. He declined to give any more details about the manner of death.
Martin entered active duty in October 2009 as a cavalry scout. He had been assigned to Troop G, 3rd Cavalry Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since February 2010.
Martin deployed in support of Operation New Dawn — when U.S. forces started to withdraw from the country — from August 2010 to August last year.
Martin’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
