SEATTLE — An order from a panel of the Washington Court of Appeals means voters in SeaTac will get the opportunity to decide whether the city should increase its minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Friday’s order reversed a Superior Court judge’s recent ruling that disqualified 61 signatures of registered voters who signed more than one petition.
King County Elections said the proposal will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.
The Seattle Times reported that the appeals court order did not elaborate.
The group — Yes! For SeaTac — said earlier that Judge Andrea Darvas ruled that SeaTac Proposition 1 was 17 signatures short of the required threshold to put the initiative on the city ballot.
The state of Washington has one of the highest minimum wages in the nation at $9.19 an hour.
