LYNNWOOD — An early-morning crash near Lynnwood on Thursday left one man hospitalized with a possible broken neck.
The crash was reported just after 1 a.m. on the ramp from northbound I-5 to southbound I-405, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said. The crash is being investigated as a case of vehicular assault and hit-and-run.
A trooper was on patrol at the time and attempted to stop a sport utility vehicle that was speeding, Leary said.
The driver apparently fled from the trooper and lost control of the vehicle. The SUV rolled over, striking a guard rail.
The driver ran from the scene. A police dog search was unsuccessful, Leary said.
A passenger in the SUV, a 27-year-old Lynnwood man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was listed Thursday afternoon in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
The investigation continues.
