EVERETT — If you’re looking for some all-ages enjoyment after Everett’s Colors of Freedom 4th of July Parade, stroll on over to First Baptist Church.
For several years running, the congregation on Pacific and Wetmore avenues has hosted a post-parade event called Fun in the Sun.
From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, expect to find pony rides, bouncy houses and live music, along with much more.
“It is a family-friendly street fair, a big block party,” said Christen Weller, this year’s Fun in the Sun director.
Other attractions include face-painting, putt-putt golf and a family photo booth. In the church parking lot, get a close look at some of the classic cars from the parade.
There’s a special area for preschoolers with bubbles, a bean-bag toss and sidewalk chalk. Or, tune into the music stage, for an eclectic mix of songs from musicians who hail from the congregation and the wider community.
“We just call them the Fun in the Sun Band,” Weller said.
If you’re hungry, fill up on cotton candy, popcorn or snow cones. There’s a root-beer float fundraiser to help support trips by the church’s youth mission team. Or $2 buys you a meal with a hot dog, chips and a Pepsi.
For the spiritually inclined, there’s a sign-up for a Vacation Bible School that runs Monday through Friday.
Also learn about the youth ministry scheduled to head to the Central American nation of Costa Rica for 10 days, starting Monday.
If you want more, you can return to First Baptist on Sunday.
A family-friendly worship service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m.
