VERLOT — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released video of rescue and recovery work in the area of Big Four Ice Caves after a collapse there on Monday that killed a woman and injured at least five others.
The first video (above) is from the sheriff’s Snohawk10 helicopter. Injured people are lifted for transport to the picnic area nearby, where they were transferred to helicopters of Airlift Northwest to be taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The second video (below) shows the detonation of an avalanche charge during the process of making the caves safe for removal of the victim’s body.
