SEATTLE — Officials have confirmed the death of a man who was pulled from the Stillaguamish River on June 28.
Thomas Swindoll, 21, of Marysville, died July 3 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His death was ruled a drowning.
Swindoll was pulled from the river at Blue Stilly Park near Arlington and taken to Harborview in a helicopter.
Witnesses said he was swimming without a lifejacket when he went missing underwater. Bystanders rescued him about 15 minutes later and started CPR.
News of his death was not confirmed until Friday. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said it had no access to the information from the hospital, due to federal privacy laws. People who die at Harborview often are taken to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office and then are considered King County deaths.
