KENT — Firefighters have extinguished a fire that broke out at a high school art building.
KOMO TV reported that the fire was burning trees alongside the outside of the building at Kent-Meridian High School Monday afternoon when firefighters were called. No one was inside the building and there were no injuries.
The building, which is located near the school’s tennis courts and portable classrooms, houses art classes and shop class. All of windows were broken and the blinds were scorched, and three classrooms in the building were damaged. Investigators haven’t determined where the fire started.
School officials say they hope to have the classrooms back in use by the time school starts at the end of the month.
